Sedation Patient Protocol│
Sedation Protocol │Protective Adult Garment
Patients undergoing oral conscious sedation, may experience temporary impairment of awareness, coordination, balance, judgment, memory, and normal bodily control during and after treatment.
Sedated patients respond to stimuli, but are typically very relaxed which occasionally results in temporary loss of bladder control during the appointment. All sedation patients are strongly encouraged to wear protective disposable adult undergarments (adult protective underwear) to their appointment for comfort, hygiene, dignity, and infection-control purposes.
Prior to every Conscious Sedation Appointments:
☑ Wear loose, comfortable clothing
☑ Use the restroom immediately prior to treatment
☑ Follow all fasting (NPO) instructions exactly as directed
☑ Bring a Trusted Responsible Adult Escort│Spouse to assist with post recovery needs
☑ Wear protective disposable adult undergarments for the duration of the sedation appointment
☑ Bring a complete change of clothing for post-operative comfort
This recommendation applies particularly to:
longer appointments,
full-mouth procedures,
medically compromised patients,
and individuals with prior urinary urgency or incontinence history.
